The number of blocks ever mined. It only goes up, and the pace is held near ten minutes by the difficulty adjustment.
THE QUEUE
Transactions that are broadcast but not yet in a block. When it is deep, fees rise; when it drains, they fall.
WHAT YOU PAY
Priced per byte of transaction size, not per dollar sent. Consolidating inputs when fees are low is how you save later.
