iTrustCapital vs Bitcoin IRA: half the fees or twice the hand-holding
The value leader against the original. Both get real bitcoin into a tax-advantaged account; one charges roughly half as much, the other answers the phone faster.

OUR VERDICT
Pick iTrustCapital — on a $50,000 rollover the trading-fee gap is roughly $1,000 round-trip at an unchanged balance, before BitcoinIRA’s monthly account charge, and its human support is also good. Pick Bitcoin IRA only if maximum hand-holding is what actually gets your rollover done. If you want your own keys instead of either, that’s Unchained.
Common questions
Is the $250M insurance a reason to pay more?
It covers custody-level theft, shared across custodied assets — not market losses, not a balance guarantee. A real differentiator, smaller than the marketing suggests.
Are rollovers taxable?
Eligible like-for-like transfers and direct rollovers generally preserve tax deferral and do not use the annual contribution limit. Moving pre-tax money to a Roth IRA is different: the taxable amount is generally included in income. Check the IRS Roth conversion guidance and your plan’s eligibility before moving funds.
What about Fidelity’s crypto IRA?
The mainstream third option — $0 account fees, 1% trading fee, coins next to your 401(k). See the full review.
