Read this before you buy anything. These figures assume today's hashprice holds, and it will not. Difficulty rises over time, which drops revenue per machine even when price is flat, and the next halving cuts the block subsidy again. Payback periods that look short at current hashprice routinely stretch out. The calculator also ignores hosting fees, cooling, PSU losses, downtime, pool payout minimums, sales tax on hardware, and the tax treatment of mined coins as ordinary income at receipt — see the tax guide. Treat the break-even power figure as the most durable number here: if your electricity is above it, the machine loses money from day one.
How to read your mining result
Net per day subtracts pool fees and metered electricity from estimated mining revenue. Break-even power shows the highest electricity rate the machine can tolerate under the current inputs. Hardware payback divides purchase cost by today’s modeled profit, so it is a simple snapshot—not a forecast—and becomes unavailable when the machine is operating at a loss.
Sources, methodology and updates
Live hashprice is calculated from current network hashrate, 24-hour miner rewards and Bitcoin price data supplied through Bitcoin Almanack’s first-party endpoints, with a conservative fallback if a feed is unavailable. The page requests current data when it opens; all entered values and profitability calculations stay in your browser. The monthly chart uses approximate public hashprice-index averages for context.
Frequently asked questions
What is Bitcoin hashprice?
Hashprice estimates how much revenue a unit of mining hashrate earns per day. It moves with Bitcoin’s price, network difficulty, transaction fees and the block subsidy.
Does this include difficulty increases and halvings?
No. Results hold today’s hashprice constant. Rising difficulty or a lower block subsidy can reduce future revenue, while bitcoin price and transaction fees can move it in either direction.
What electricity price is profitable?
Compare your all-in electricity rate with the calculated break-even power price. A rate below it produces an operating margin under the selected assumptions; a higher rate produces a loss.
Why can hardware payback change so quickly?
Payback depends on daily profit, which can change with price, difficulty, fees, uptime and energy cost. It also excludes cooling, hosting, repairs, taxes and financing unless you account for them separately.
