MINERS/ANTMINER S21 PRO

Antminer S21 Pro Review (2026): The Sweet Spot of the S21 Line

BY THE BITCOIN ALMANACK TEAM·UPDATED JUL 2026·9 MIN READ·● BTC {{ price }}·CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS
OUR VERDICT THE WORKHORSE 8.8/10
The S21 Pro is the machine mid-scale operators actually deploy: 234 TH/s at 15 J/TH, air-cooled, on the proven BM1370 chip — usually $1,000+ cheaper than the XP. It gives up 10% efficiency for a meaningfully lower price per terahash, which is the right trade at most power rates. The default recommendation for a first serious miner.
WHAT WE LIKED
+Best price-to-performance in the current Bitmain lineup
+15 J/TH is still firmly top-tier in 2026
+Proven chip and thermal design — reliability record is strong
+Same parts/repair ecosystem as the rest of the S21 line
WHAT WE DIDN'T
~76 dB, like every full-size ASIC
Loses to the XP on long-horizon efficiency
3.5 kW draw still needs real electrical work

The value math

Efficiency sells headlines; dollars per terahash pays bills. The Pro routinely prices $500–1,000 under the XP while hashing 87% as much. Below roughly $0.08/kWh, the cheaper machine reaches ROI faster despite burning slightly more per hash — which is why 20–100 unit operations standardize on it.

Reliability record

The BM1370-based S21 Pro has been shipping long enough to have a track record: solid boards, predictable thermals, and next-day parts through the Bitmain network. Boring is exactly what you want bolted to a wall for three years.

Upgrade horizon

At 15 J/TH the Pro stays profitable deeper into difficulty growth than anything but the XP/S23 tier. Expect a competitive lifespan of 3–4 years before it becomes a cheap-power-only machine.
Buy it if…
You want the best cost-per-TH in a proven package and your power is $0.08/kWh or better.
Skip it if…
Power is expensive where you are — pay up for the XP’s efficiency, or host instead.

Common questions

How loud is 76 dB really?

A vacuum cleaner that never turns off. Plan for a detached space or acoustic isolation, full stop.

New or used?

Used S19-era machines look cheap but their 20+ J/TH efficiency is a trap at 2026 difficulty. If you buy used, buy used S21-generation from a seller with test logs.
