Jason Viscosi

Founder & Editor
Payment processing Bitcoin history Editorial standards
Jason found bitcoin the practical way: it solved a problem. A Miami native whose freelance design career ran through Manhattan, Los Angeles, Dallas, and London, he landed in San José, Costa Rica, designing and managing sites for the country's largest North American-facing sportsbooks. That work grew into running a casino site, then a poker room — and when payment rails became the hard part, bitcoin was the answer. By 2017 he was processing payments with it and hooked on the technology underneath.
He has seen the industry from the inside through its defining moments — Black Friday in 2011, the Bitcoin Block Wars of 2015 — and started Bitcoin Almanack to explain the technology the way he wishes someone had explained it to him. "The world has never seen a technology like Bitcoin, and I'm glad to have been a witness and participant of it all." As editor he sets the testing standards, signs off on every score, and runs the second-editor fact-check.

HOW I EDIT
Every piece on this site follows the standard I set on day one: test with our own money, verify every number against its source, disclose everything, and never let a commission touch a score. I fact-check as the second editor on every review before it publishes. Our full methodology →
