Casa Review (2026): Multisig for People Who Hate Multisig

BY THE BITCOIN ALMANACK TEAM·UPDATED JUL 2026·9 MIN READ·● BTC {{ price }}·CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS
OUR VERDICT SMOOTHEST MULTISIG APP 8.8/10
Casa wraps 2-of-3 (and up to 3-of-5) multisig in the friendliest app in the category: your phone is a key, your hardware wallet is a key, Casa holds one — and the app choreographs everything from setup to inheritance. Slightly less finance-flavored than Unchained, slightly smoother software.
WHAT WE LIKED
+Best multisig UX in the business — phone key + hardware key
+3-of-5 vault tier for very large holdings
+Inheritance product is thoughtful and tested
+Works with the hardware you already own
WHAT WE DIDN'T
Annual fee for something DIYers do free
KYC and company knowledge of holdings
Phone-as-key requires trusting mobile security

The phone as a key

The Casa insight: you always have your phone, so make it one of the three keys. Day-to-day sends use phone + hardware wallet; lose either and the Casa key plus the survivor recovers you. The app walks you through health checks so keys never silently rot.

Inheritance that works

The inheritance flow gives designated recipients a documented, rehearsable path to claim funds — no lawyers improvising with seed phrases. If your bitcoin plan does not survive your death, it is not a plan; this is the feature that fixes that.

Casa or Unchained?

Both are excellent. Choose Unchained for concierge service and the IRA/loan ecosystem; choose Casa for the slicker app and the 3-of-5 tier. Either beats an untested DIY setup for most families.
Use it if…
You want serious multisig protection with consumer-grade software doing the choreography.
Skip it if…
You enjoy running your own multisig in Sparrow and testing your own recoveries — DIY is free.

Common questions

What if I lose my phone?

Your hardware key + the Casa key recover the wallet; the lost phone key is rotated out. Key replacement is routine and guided in-app.

Does Casa see my balance?

Yes — collaborative custody providers know your addresses. That is the privacy cost of the safety net.

Can I use my existing Coldcard/Trezor?

Yes — Casa supports the major hardware devices as keys.
